Fluvanna Missing Person's Case to Enter Third Year

Posted: Updated:

A missing person's case in Fluvanna County is about to enter its third year.

Tara Hourihan was doing her routine grocery shopping Saturday in the very place where her life changed two years ago.

"Of course a lot of memories are stirred a lot of remembering just how awful I felt on that day," she said. "It still carries with me every single day and I basically just pray. That's what keeps me going."

Tara's husband Rob was last seen at the E.W. Thomas grocery store on April 8, 2011.

His car was found a month and a half later in a Target parking lot in La Plata, Maryland - a sign that investigators say foul play was involved in Rob's disappearance.

"We've followed up with a lot of leads over the past two years, unfortunately now we've moved into the following up with unclaimed remains," said Lt. David Wells, the investigator on the case.

The Fluvanna County Sheriff's Office isn't giving up on finding out what happened to Rob Hourihan.

"I'm just hoping at this point -  two years later - that someone's had a lot of time to think about it, their conscience maybe is getting to them, somebody has to know something more than somebody's told me," Lt. Wells said.

Tara is holding on to what she has left of Rob – her daughter.

"This was my little gift from God that I got blessed with," Tara said, referring to her daughter. "Who's a lot like her daddy, thank the Lord."

She clings to memories and photos, like the last snapshot of the family taken just before Rob disappeared.

"Even if our time with him was cut short it was wonderful when we had him," she said.

Tara said she is relying on her faith to get her through and bring her closure.
