The clock turned back in time Saturday at Coyner Springs Park in Waynesboro as the 10th Virginia Cavalry hosted a tribute to the Augusta County Cavalrymen.
Men wore Confederate uniforms and rode around on horses and the women spent the day cooking fireside.
Troopers were on hand at the event to teach people about cavalry equipment, uniforms, camp life and missions.
"It's really important that we keep our history you know awareness in our minds because you know as the saying goes, those that forget their history are doomed to repeat it and it's a very important part of tourism as well for this state and this part of the country particular," said reenactment organizer Reed Lewis.
A large display of known confederate cavalrymen from Augusta County was featured.
