McDonnell Speaks at UVA Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy

Posted: Updated:

Governor Bob McDonnell was at the University of Virginia Friday, attending events at the Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy.

He spoke to graduate and undergraduate Batten students about effective leadership skills needed in public policy.

He also addressed the importance of getting the state's finances in order because of the hard-hitting cuts sequestration is expected to have on Virginia.

McDonnell stressed it is important for young people to get involved and to be informed about the country's spending.

He also said people need to be held accountable for the future of education. He says grading the schools by A through F will give a better understanding and keep the schools in Virginia competitive.

McDonnell says he hopes the students listening would be some of the future leaders in Virginia.
