Albemarle Teacher to Participate in ‘Teachers for Global Classrooms’

Posted: Updated:

An Albemarle County middle school teacher is stepping out of his comfort zone. Soon he will be teaching and learning in a whole new way.

Rob Dent, who teaches at Jouett Middle School, has been selected to go to Kazakhstan for two weeks as part of the Teachers for Global Classrooms program.

Dent will bring poetry and other work from his students to share with the students there. He says his middle school students already have a ton of questions.

"What do kids like to do for fun there? Do the kids wear uniforms in their schools? Do the kids wear Jordans? What do they serve at McDonalds over there? They found out they eat horse meat over there so the kids are curious about that," Dent said.

Dent will be blogging on the trip. To check it out, click here.
