New Search Warrant Filed in Charlottesville Officer-Involved Shooting

Posted: Updated:

A new search warrant has been filed following an officer-involved shooting in Charlottesville.

Police say they are no longer looking for leads in the shooting outside the Elks Lodge (I.B.P.O.E. of W. Rivanna #195) on Second Street Northwest.

Police say Frank Brown, 56, of Albemarle County and Leon Brock, 22, of Culpeper County were involved in the incident just outside the Elks Lodge on March 16. According to previous search warrants, Brown shot Brock after Brock and others jumped him. Officer Alex Bruner was one of the first officers on scene and reported firing twice.

The new warrant says Brown fired one shot, hitting Leon Brock. It also shows, through evidence,  that Officer Bruner fired two shots from his "Glock 21 .45 caliber semi-automatic"- consistent with what he first reported.

One casing was retrieved from a utility pole.

Investigators have taken pictures of Brown's injuries, his shirt, and DNA evidence to confirm the bullets' paths.

Police say they are still continuing their investigation.
