Police say two vehicles collided head-on near the intersection of Irish Road and Paces Store Road around 4 p.m. Friday.

A GMC Sierra pickup crossed the dotted yellow line on Irish Road at a high speed, striking a 2002 Chevrolet Malibu head-on.

The driver of the Malibu - Andrew Curt Lawhorne, a 26-year-old from Schuyler - was found dead at the scene.

The driver of the Sierra, Jerry Christopher Johnson, 47, was flown to the University of Virginia Medical Center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. He has been charged with DUI.

No one else was in either vehicle.

The investigation continues and police say additional charges are pending.
