City of Charlottesville
Press Release

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - Road Closure: Hillcrest Road at the Route 250 Bypass will be closed beginning Wednesday, April 3rd to allow for clearing and grading operations to continue in preparation for utility work to commence - gas, water and sewer. All traffic will enter and exit the 250 Bypass via Birdwood Road. Tentative re-opening is June 2013.

*** City school transportation has provided for a new bus stop at the intersection of Birdwood Road/Birdwood Court to service those who live along Edgewood and Hillcrest Roads. ***

Lane Closure: Intermittent lane closures will continue on the Route 250 Bypass between Park Street and Rugby Avenue and along McIntire Road between Harris Street and Route 250. Motorists should expect delays and are urged to use alternate routes when possible.

The signal at the Route 250/McIntire Road intersection will be modified to allow construction traffic to directly cross the Bypass and thereby avoid traveling on neighborhood streets.

Work zone is posted at 25 MPH - please drive carefully.
