Mountaintop Montessori Students Make Mini-Documentary

Posted: Updated:

It's lights, camera, action for a group of middle school students creating a mini-documentary about central Virginia artists with disabilities.

Fourteen Mountaintop Montessori School students are interviewing four artists - including photographer Justin Connor - from Very Special Arts.

They're working with the moviemakers at Charlottesville's Light House Studio over three days to research, film interviews and edit the documentary.

"Watching the kids interview people who have disabilities has been amazing, because the kids are very sensitive and very curious about how people navigate the world - people who are different from them and have challenges," said Lucy Edwards, program and development coordinator at Light House Studio.

The students will finish putting together the five-minute documentary Thursday. Once it's done, you can watch it by clicking here.
