Lost Service Dog Found

Albemarle County Police Department
Press Release

The Albemarle County Police Department would like to thank the community for their assistance in helping us locate a lost service dog, Beta.   Beta was dropped off at the SPCA over the weekend and has been reunited with her family in Texas.  Beta was in Albemarle County for service dog training.  The black lab was found in good condition and was very happy to be reunited with family.

Beta, a 10-month-old black lab, went missing around the Key West area on March 8th, 2013.  This was reported to the ACPD on March 11th as a lost dog.  However, we received allegations the dog was stolen and an investigator has been assigned to the case.

At this point, the investigation is on-going.  If the detective determines criminal activity took place, larceny of a dog is a felony in the State of Virginia.

We would like to thank the community and the SPCA for assisting in this case.
