Virginia Baseball Sweeps Doubleheader Against NC State

The #11 UVA baseball team swept both games of a doubleheader against NC State Saturday at Davenport Field.

The Cavaliers won 8-2 in Game One, and 4-3 in Game Two.

UVA blew open a close contest with five runs in the 8th inning in the first game of the day.

Austin Young picked up his first win of the season with 3.1 innings of scoreless relief.

Joe McCarthy went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored.

Josh Sborz and Kyle Crockett combined for four scoreless innings of relief for starter Scott Silverstein in Game Two.

Brandon Downes led the way with two hits, two runs, and an RBI.

The Washington Nationals 'Racing Presidents' made an appearance at Davenport Field.

Virginia (21-2, 6-2 ACC) and NC State were scheduled to wrap up the three-game series Monday at 7 pm.

Game Three has instead been moved up to Sunday at 11 am, due to the threat of foul weather Monday.
