The #9 Virginia women's lacrosse team lost 13-7 against #6 Duke Saturday at Klockner Stadium.
The loss snaps a three game winning streak for UVA (5-5, 0-3 ACC).
The Blue Devils outscored the Wahoos 7-2 in the 2nd half.
"I think we needed to do a better job in the second half," says head coach Julie Myers. "I thought we were competitive in the first. Then really we just had a bunch of breakdowns on defense and gave them some easy looks at the goal and of course those are going to go in on us."
Virginia got off to a quick start in the 1st half, as Christie Donovan found the net less than 30 seconds into the game.
Junior Ashlee Warner says, "Second half we just wanted to come out and do the same. They got a couple draws in a row and we just started getting flat and hesitant in our 1-v-1's on the attack side. We just sort of tightened up, and our shots weren't as hard."
Casey Bocklet led UVA with two goals and one assist.
All five of the Cavaliers losses this season have come against teams ranked in the Top 10.
Virginia returns to action Wednesday at Old Dominion.
