Charlottesville police are investigating a stabbing in the 1100 block of 5th Street Extended early Thursday morning.
Charlottesville police say a dispute between a father and son led to the stabbing.
They say a father and mother were en route to the University of Virginia Medical Center just after midnight for an unrelated issue when their 19-year-old son got into a dispute with his 51-year-old father. Police say he stabbed him in the lower abdomen with a pocketknife.
The family then drove the father to the medical center where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
No names have been released at this time, and the incident is still under investigation.
