#11 UVa Baseball Beats Yale 10-0, Sweeps Two-Game Series

Posted: Updated:

Five Cavalier pitchers combined to toss Virginia's sixth shutout of the season beating Yale 10-0 Wednesday.   Freshman pitcher Josh Sborz got the win in his first career start striking out four in three innings.

Four of the five pitchers Virginia used were freshman.  Cavalier freshman pitcher Trey Oest earned the win for Virginia against Yale on Tuesday.

Coach Brian O'Connor said after the game, "They've been thrown right into the fire and are really doing some good things. When you think about both games in the middle of the week we started freshmen in Oest and Sborz we've got freshman coming out of the bullpen, it definitely bodes well for the rest of this season and the future.

The Cavaliers also got multi-hit games from Mike Papi, Reed Gragnani and Rob Bennie.  Virginia improves to 19-2 on the season.  The 'Hoos Host NC State for a three game series starting Saturday.
