The Virginia men's lacrosse team will be without its senior captain for the rest of the season.
Midfielder Chris LaPierre has a lower extremity injury and is done for the year.
LaPierre will remain the team's captain.
UVA head coach Coach Dom Starsia says Virginia will try to get a medical hardship waiver, which would allow LaPierre to play a fifth season next year.
The senior was named All-ACC while leading the Cavaliers in ground balls in each of the last two seasons.
Virginia will play Johns Hopkins Saturday at 4:30 pm in Baltimore at M&T Bank Stadium.
