Reynolds Makes It Count On UVA's NFL Pro-Timing Day

Posted: Updated:

The NFL draft is just over a month away and Tuesday, March 19, was UVA's annual NFL pro-timing day.

All of Virginia's draft eligible players had a shot to work out in front of NFL scouts.

There were 23 scouts on grounds from 21 NFL teams.

Cavalier offensive lineman Oday Aboushi is projected to be a second or third round pick.

But today - Linebacker LaRoy Reynolds stood out.

He had a "personal best" on the bench press doing 29 reps at 225 pounds.

Reynolds had a 37 inch vertical jump and ran the 40 in 4.5 seconds - pretty good for a linebacker.

Reynolds did not get an invite to the Sports Combine or make it to any All-Star games, but he did make it count when it mattered most.

"Last couple of days I've been just tossing and turning. Once you finally get in the moment you just take all your energy and you use it to the best of your ability and I think I did that today. Just taking everything that's built up from the end of the season to now and just got out there and did the best I could," said Reynolds.

Aboushi added, "He's always the calm before the storm so just to see how he performed today and blow people's mind - I wasn't shocked but I'm happy that he wowed a lot of people."

Head Coach Mike London said, "He did a nice job in the weight room and the drills out here that they timed. He did well. He caught the ball well out here. A couple of these guys made much more of a dent then scouts might be thinking about."
