CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) - Dr. Nancy E. Dunlap has been named interim dean of the University of Virginia's School of Medicine.
The university announced Dunlap's appointment Monday. It is effective May 1.
A pulmonologist, Dunlap is physician-in-residence with the National Governors Association's Center for Best Practices in Washington, D.C.
Dunlap succeeds Dr. Steven T. DeKosky, who resigned to return to full-time teaching.
The university says Dunlap's term is expected to last at least 18 months while the university searches for a new executive vice president for health affairs. A search for a permanent medical school dean will be launched following that appointment.
