Virginia Department of Transportation crews will hit the roads Sunday night in preparation of the snowfall.
At 8 p.m. Sunday VDOT trucks will begin salting and sanding roadways to increase traction. They also have day crews on call in case preparations need to start before 8 p.m.
VDOT spokesman Lou Hatter says crews will focus heavily on the western area of the Culpeper district and the Shenandoah Valley.
"The crews are available if we get any reports of any freezing conditions, and then as a precaution, and because we are anticipating some freezing precipitation overnight, either snow or freezing rain we will have all the nighttime crews coming in," he said.
Real-time road conditions are available on VDOT'S 511 mobile app. Travelers can also call 511 from any telephone in the state for real-time traffic information.
