Albemarle County residents got some school concerns answered Saturday. Albemarle County Supervisor Duane Snow and School Board member Eric Strucko hosted a town hall meeting to get the conversation going.
Strucko says the future of Yancey Elementary School was a hot topic. He says although the school will remain an elementary school the building is being considered for additional uses.
"A committee is being formed as we speak to consider alternative uses for when school is not in session so that would be in the evenings or on the weekends," he stated.
A firing range proposed to be built in Keene was another hot topic at the meeting. The use of the old Keene landfill was also of concern to several meeting-goers.
