Augusta Man Accused of Attempted Rape Acquitted

Posted: Updated:

A jury has acquitted the Churchville man accused of abducting a woman and trying to rape her.

Robert Ernest Snyder, 52, was charged with two felonies and could have faced a life sentence. The alleged crimes took place just after a party last June.

The 27-year-old victim testified that Snyder forced her into a bathroom and tried to force himself on her. But the Augusta County jury returned a not-guilty verdict, after just over half an hour of deliberation.
