Big changes are coming to the Old Trail neighborhood in Crozet and Thursday night people got a chance to learn the ins and outs of the project.
The Old Trail neighborhood is in the process of a major expansion. It includes new townhomes, commercial buildings and even a 46-room hotel scheduled to open in 2015.
While most of the feedback regarding the expansion has been positive, there are concerns that it will divide the neighborhood.
Neighbors say the Old Trail neighborhood needs to feel like it is a part of Crozet and not in competition with it.
"It's really important that Old Trail is a part of Crozet. That, to me, is the only way this is going to work for downtown Crozet and the whole community," said Mary Rice, who lives in Crozet.
Some also voiced concerns about the hotel and the clientele it will attract. Because the hotel will target weddings and winery stays, some are afraid that people will get behind the wheel after having a few drinks.
The community also discussed the creation of a more proactive neighborhood watch and there was also a safety report from the Albemarle County Police Department.
