Governor Bob McDonnell will be paying a visit to Augusta County on Friday and he's promising a "major economic development announcement."
It's a project expected to bring jobs to Verona.
Augusta County has owned the Mill Place Commerce Park in Verona for nearly 20 years. During that time it's managed to attract just one industrial tenant, Hansen Transmissions, but Hansen is about to get a new neighbor.
Augusta County officials are keeping mum on the plans, but what we do know is a manufacturer will purchase a 25-acre tract inside the industrial park.
McDonnell will visit Mill Place at 2 p.m. Friday to unveil the long-awaited project. County supervisors will be meeting soon after the governor's announcement to put the land deal into motion.
This week's good news comes on the heels of the announcement just last month of an upgrade at the nearby McQuay Plant in Verona. That will bring a multi-million-dollar investment, and dozens of new jobs.
