Red Hill Elementary PTO Prepares for Annual Fun Run

Posted: Updated:

The Red Hill Elementary PTO is hosting an annual community race where the whole family, even the little ones, can participate.  Now organizers are calling on people to sponsor the race, and help get ready for the run.

The Red Hill Run raises money for clubs, activities and field trips. Parents say it's a unique event because Red Hill isn't typically a running community.

The idea is to get kids who otherwise wouldn't be old enough to participate in races involved in running at a young age.

Children as young as 3 years old can participate in a 50-yard dash. There will be a "fun run" where kids do as many laps as they can in 10 or 12 minutes, and there will also be a 5K.

It's a way kids can give back by raising money for their school.

"It feels good helping my community because like as a kid you can't just pay your allowance," said Red Hill Elementary student Lauren Baylink.

Tickets for the race are $10 before the April 25 deadline and $15 after that. The race is May 11. Check-in is at 7 a.m., with the fun run starting just before 8 a.m.
