The Virginia Tech men's basketball team had its ACC Tournament practice Wednesday at noon at the Greensboro Coliseum in preparation for Thursday's game against NC State.
Virginia Tech is the 12-seed, while the Wolfpack are the 5-seed.
Virginia will play the winner on Friday at 2pm.
The Hokies are big underdogs, but they say they have nothing to lose.
Tech has some confidence as well, as they played NC State tough earlier this season in Raleigh, losing by just four points in overtime.
Senior point guard Erick Green says, "Great confidence, big confidence. NC State is a great team. They were the preseason pick to win the conference, and they have the preseason player of the year. Going in there, we had them (beat in Raleigh), so it gives us great confidence going in. We just have to put 40 minutes together."
Head coach James Green adds, "They're a scary team. They have enough talent to have been the preseason pick to win the league, so they're coming in with a chip on their shoulder because of where they finished, and we're coming in with a chip on our shoulder. We played well in a lot of games and weren't able to finish them, now it's do or die."
Virginia Tech lost 12 of its last 14 games.
The Hokies and Wolfpack will square off Thursday at 2pm on NBC 29 in the opening round of the ACC Tournament.
