Madison County High School students are creating a public service announcement to encourage teens to drive safer.
Three 10th grade students - Emily Butterworth, Madison Lambrich and Summer Davis - shot the 30-second video on a smartphone and edited it on a laptop. The video shows the deadly impact of distracted driving.
The students are entering the PSA into a first-of-its-kind competition funded by State Farm.
"I'm not driving yet, but I will be soon. For me to be able to know that I need to take these precautions when driving so that I can ensure the safety of myself and others I definitely think is very important," said Davis.
Madison County is one of five high schools in the competition, which could earn the student team up to a $1,000 prize.
Winners will be announced by May 1.
