Cville Planning Commission Talks Planned Unit Developments

Posted: Updated:

The Charlottesville Planning Commission voted Tuesday to rezone property off Elliot Avenue, from a multifamily residential district to a planned unit development (PUD).

There could be as many as 50 new housing types on the property, varying from single-family to cottages to townhouses. At least 18 of those will be affordable housing.

That proposal includes housing as many as eight Region Ten clients to provide them with an opportunity to reintegrate in a neighborhood setting. The Elliott Avenue PUD is expected to go before City Council for a final vote sometime in April.

The Charlottesville Planning Commission also voted Tuesday night to make an amendment allowing townhomes to be built in the Johnson Village PUD.
