Charlottesville Police Investigate Thefts from Vending Machines

Someone is taking money from vending machines in Charlottesville. City police say they've seen a rash of incidents from over the weekend involving soda machines.

At five separate locations (read full list below), police say someone broke into the machines' coin boxes and took money.

Two incidents happened along Avon Street. The rest were on Sixth Street, Grady and Cherry avenues.

At this point, investigators do not have any suspects.


Full list of locations according to Charlottesville police reports:

  • 800 block of Avon St: A Coke machine broken into, coins taken 
  • 1200 block of Grady Ave: 2 machines, Coke and Pepsi, coins taken. 
  • 1200 block of Avon St: 2 soda machines, coins taken
  • 800 block of Cherry Ave: 2 machines, Coke and Pepsi, coins taken. 
  • 1200 block of 6th St S.E: Pepsi Machine, coins missing
