Press Release

The Culpeper Police Department is asking for the public's help identifying a man suspected of scamming a local store.

On March 8, an unidentified light skinned black male returned what was believed to be a computer tablet in a sealed box to the customer service counter at Wal-Mart. The man, believed to be between 20 and 30 years of age, was given a cash refund.

The man then went to the electronics department and allegedly removed a video gaming device and left the store, without paying.

When store personnel later opened the computer box, they didn't find a tablet but other items to give the box weight.

The man has a beard, wears glasses and has medium length brown hair.

Anyone with information regarding this man may contact Crime Solvers anonymously at 540-727-0300 or Detective Sergeant Jeff Dodson at 540-829-5526.
