Greene Supervisors Participate in Part 1 of Budget Workshop
In Greene County, everyone's crossing their fingers and hoping there's enough cash to go around. Thursday night was part one of a two-part budget workshop for the Board of Supervisors.
During the first half of the budget workshop, board members took a look at the county's revenue. The chairman for the Board of Supervisors, Jim Frydl, says they are in the beginning phase of evaluating budget requests.
The Greene County Sheriff's Department, Ruckersville Volunteer Fire Department, Jefferson Madison Regional Library, Jefferson Area Board for Aging and the rescue squad are all asking for additional funds.
The board also received a request for extra money for water and sewer infrastructure.
Frydl says the sheriff's department is asking for the extra money to hire more employees.
The meeting was just the start of the budget talk. Next Tuesday will be the second day of the workshop.
Frydl says after Tuesday's meeting the Board of Supervisors will have a more complete picture of the county revenue.
