RICHMOND, VA. (AP) - The multi-billion dollar business of farm trade is the focus of a 2-day conference in Richmond.
Gov. Bob McDonnell is scheduled to discuss the importance of agricultural exports Thursday at the opening of the 5th Governor's Conference on Agricultural Trade. The conference will bring together producers, exporters, government officials and foreign dignitaries.
The conference will also release the latest numbers on the state's agricultural exports. In 2011, Virginia farm exports totaled $2.35 billion.
McDonnell and Virginia's secretary of agriculture and forestry, Todd Haymore, have promoted the state's farm and forest products on trade missions that have taken them around the globe.
