Legendary journalist Bob Schieffer gave University of Virginia students a lesson in politics and news savviness Monday.
Schieffer serves as the chief Washington correspondent for CBS news and moderates "Face the Nation."
Schieffer spoke to more than 400 students in Larry Sabato's introduction to American politics class. He talked about his years covering government and politics in Washington and serving as moderator for presidential debates.
Schieffer says the lack of productivity on Capitol Hill is the worst he has seen.
Schieffer stated, "We need to find a way to somehow erase this notion that compromise is a dirty word. I mean, the way that legislatures get things done is by compromising, by people getting together and figuring, if I give a little here, maybe I can get a little here and we have none of that in Washington."
When asked about his greatest accomplishment, he jokingly replied, "that I'm still here."
