The #6 Virginia women's lacrosse team dropped to 2-3 on the season, as UVA fell 15-14 against #10 Penn State at Klockner Stadium Sunday.
The match against the Nittany Lions was the third straight Top 10 opponent for the Cavaliers.
The 'Hoos have played a team ranked in the Top 10 in four of their five games this year.
UVA went into halftime with an 8-5 advantage following a 4-0 run, but Penn State scored the first six goals of the 2nd half to take an 11-8 lead.
Virginia bounced back with another 4-0 streak to reclaim the lead at 12-11.
Ashlee Warner put away one of her three goals to cap the run.
But that was UVA's last lead of the game.
Penn State scored four-straight goals to go up 15-12, and the late Virginia rally came up short.
Casey Bocklet led UVA two goals and three assists, while Dana Boyle had three goals.
The 'Hoos outshot Penn State 36-30, and picked up 17 ground balls versus PSU's 15.
Virginia had seven yellow cards, while the Nittany Lions had one.
UVA returns to action next Saturday, as the Cavaliers travel to Chapel Hill to take on #3 North Carolina at 3:30 pm.
