Man Petitioning for Dumler to be Removed Collects Signatures

The man leading an effort to remove Albemarle County Supervisor Chris Dumler from his seat says he collected his final signatures Saturday.
Earl Smith made signs and camped out at Snow's Garden Center to gather more signatures on his petition. The recall requires signatures of 10 percent of registered voters in the Scottsville District - totaling 372 signatures needed.
Smith says he focused Saturday on getting more than the required number - just to be safe.
"I always stood by where I say I'm not going to judge him, I'm not judging him now but every time that he gives an interview, somehow I think that what people call his arrogance, drives more people to find me, and to sign the petition," Smith said.
Smith started the recall petition after Dumler pleaded guilty to misdemeanor sexual battery last month. He plans to count the signatures Sunday and turn them into the court for verification next week.
