A man accused of robberies and burglaries across central Virginia was back in court Thursday morning.
Kevin Burchardt faces charges in at least seven counties. Thursday in Albemarle Circuit Court, the 33-year-old from Amherst waived his right to a speedy trial. The defense said his case is so complex, it requires more time to prepare.
In Albemarle County alone, he is charged in five armed robberies and faces 19 charges including burglary while armed and grand larceny. Those crimes happened across Scottsville, Keswick and Charlottesville between November and December.
He was indicted earlier this week in Fluvanna County on numerous charges, including 8 counts of burglary while armed.
Burchardt will be back in Albemarle County Circuit Court April 1. He is being held without bond at the Central Virginia Regional Jail in Orange County.
