Augusta Health Hosts Annual Heart Fair

Posted: Updated:

Staying heart healthy is a little easier Wednesday for those in the Shenandoah Valley. Augusta Health held its annual heart fair at the new Heart & Vascular Center in Fishersville.

More than 900 people turned out to tour the new facility and benefit from the free heart screenings.

Augusta Health says you need to pay attention if you think you're having symptoms of a heart attack.

"Chest discomfort, usually a pressure not always a pain. Sometimes it's felt only in the neck or the arm.  It's often associated with shortness of breath, sweating, feeling faint or dizzy, sometimes because of irregular heart rhythm. Those symptoms shouldn't be ignored," said Kelly Manor, catheterization lab manager at Augusta Health.

Augusta Health says to be kind to your heart by eating right, exercising and not smoking.
