Crews Begin Demolishing Old Regal Cinema 4

The old Regal Seminole Square Cinema 4 in Charlottesville is coming down.

Demolitions crews are ripping apart the building behind the Kmart, because the Hillsdale Drive extension is slated to go through the property. The extension will connect Hydraulic Road to Hillsdale Drive to alleviate traffic congestion along Route 29.

The extension is expected to cost about $13 million. The Commonwealth Transportation Board fully funded the project last July.
