Duane Snow announced he will run for re-election to the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors. Snow represents the Samuel Miller District.
If voted into a second term, Snow says he wants to continue preserving the landscape in Albemarle County, push transportation projects forward and bring internet to all areas in the Samuel Miller District.
"My family has been here in this area for 150 years, my business has been here for over 100 years, my five children were raised here, and in the county schools, and I've got 14 grandchildren – 12 of them live in this area," Snow said.
Snow says having his family and business in Albemarle County makes him even more invested in improving the area. He says it's important to provide internet in rural areas of the counties, because some children cannot do their homework at home without it. He says he will also work to build additional space needed for Albemarle County schools.
A dozen people came out for Snow's announcement, meeting at the Redfields subdivision in Albemarle County. Snow picked the area because of the scenic view and a compromise that once occurred there.
Land developers wanted to build homes and those living in the subdivision fought back to keep the natural habitat. Snow says this was just one event for which he helped find a solution.
