The UVa men's lacrosse team got a game high six goals from Mark Cockerton in beating Mount St. Mary's 18-11 Tuesday night. Virginia improves to 4-0 on the season.
The game was moved to Virginia's UHall turf field because of wet weather. It rained during the entire game.
Head coach Dom Starsia says, "We're generally a group that is fairly resilient and handles these changes fairly well," said Virginia head coach Dom Starsia on the venue change. "Our kids came out and had some energy in the game. I thought we came out and took over the game with enthusiasm in the beginning. I thought we were riding, getting the ground balls, doing the high-energy things that we needed to do. I thought we started to play a little better in the end. It was a good win against a good team that has gotten off to a good start and is very good offensively."
Virginia led 9-5 at halftime. Rob Emery had 4 goals for Virginia. Owen Van Arsdale and Ryan Tucker each had two goals. Emery and Nick O'Reilly each had five points. Virginia starts the season 4-0 for the seventh straight season.
Virginia's next game is Friday at 6pm at Syracuse.
