Albemarle Public Schools to Host Town Hall Meeting

Posted: Updated:

Tuesday, Albemarle County Public Schools will host its final town hall-style meeting in a series about the future of education.

Throughout February, the school system has been gathering feedback from parents and staff on ways to improve classroom instruction.

So far, much of the feedback shows that parents want students to be engaged in more critical thinking and real-world projects.

"We're recording all these ideas and we have a strategic consultant, K12 Insight, that is going to help us pull all of this information and analyze it for themes," said Matt Haas, Albemarle assistant superintendent.

Tuesday's meeting is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Sutherland Middle School.

The school system will launch an online survey in March to gather even more feedback. The information gathered from the survey will eventually go to the school board, and be a topic of discussion during its annual retreat.
