A campus safety measure developed after the Virginia Tech shootings could soon be implemented on a much broader scale.
The state legislature is considering a bill to establish threat assessment teams in all Virginia public schools. The teams would implement policies to identify and address any potential safety issues with specific students. House Bill 2344 passed the House of Delegates Tuesday 78-19, and is now before the state Senate.
The bill is part of a series of recommendations from Governor Bob McDonnell's School & Campus Safety Task Force.
