Trial Set for Man Accused of Attempted Abduction on Stadium Road

The man accused of attempting to abduct a University of Virginia student last November will face a judge and jury.

Matthew Beaulieu, 27, is charged with abduction and abduction with intent to defile. Investigators say he attempted to grab a young woman along Stadium Road last November, but she managed to fight him off.

Police later picked up Beaulieu and say he had handcuffs, duct tape and a butcher knife in the car.

His trial is set for June 3.
