It's important to remember some safety tips when using taxis. All cabs operating in Virginia are required to have a roof light and must clearly have the words "taxicab" or "taxi" written somewhere on the vehicle. If it is an unmarked car, it is not a cab.
Yellow Cab and other companies use apps, such as Taxi Magic, that allow them to record all rides through a GPS. This makes it safer for both drivers and passengers.
"So all taxicabs in Virginia have a top light on them. They have markings on the door, they have a meter on the dashboard," said Mark Brown, owner of Yellow Cab.
