Waynesboro is gearing up for some good, clean, muddy fun. Waynesboro Department Parks and Recreation officials have set up, and personally tested, the course for Saturday's "Mad Anthony Mud Run."
The second-annual race honors the city's namesake, American Revolutionary War General Anthony Wayne.
Runners will follow the four-mile course through the Coyner Springs Park tunnel under Interstate 64 and take on a variety of obstacles.
"The hay bales, the walls, the balance beams over mud and water. Definitely going to be running through some green-spring areas. And a little bit of rocky terrain, but nothing that (is) in excess," said Ben Lancaster of Waynesboro Department of Parks and Recreation.
More than 300 people are already signed up for the mud run, and its post-race party.
Registration continues through race day. For details or to sign up, click here.
