The man leading the petition to remove Albemarle County Supervisor Chris Dumler from his seat says he's collected enough signatures.
Earl Smith started the recall vote petition after Dumler pleaded guilty to misdemeanor sexual battery last month. The petition requires signatures from 10 percent of voters in the Scottsville District , totaling 372 needed signatures.
"Nobody's questioning what he's done before this incident happened, it's just how much is not going to get done because of the reputation and the sexual crime whether it was a misdemeanor or a felony," Smith said. "It doesn't matter, it was a sexual crime."
Smith says Dumler's cancellation of an appearance at Saturday's democratic breakfast is an example of how the accusations are deterring him from doing his job.
Smith wants to get double the signatures required before turning the petition into the circuit court.
