#25 UVA Baseball Wins 13-9 at East Carolina

The #25 Virginia baseball team beat East Carolina 13-9 Saturday in Game 2 of their series in Greenville, NC.

The game was moved from a 2 pm start to 10 am due to the threat of foul weather.

The Cavaliers trailed the Pirates 4-0 after five innings, but scored the game's next thirteen runs.

Sophomore leftfielder Derek Fisher went 3-for-6 with 2 runs and 5 RBI, while freshman rightfielder Joe McCarthy had three hits and 4 RBI.

Senior Scott Silverstein gave up two runs and 7 hits in five innings, while junior Whit Mayberry picked up the win with 2.2 innings of scoreless relief.

The series finale scheduled for Sunday has been canceled due to the threat of inclement weather.

Virginia (2-0) will return to the field Tuesday, as the Cavaliers host William & Mary at 3 pm.

Virginia Tech won two games Saturday in the UNC Wilmington Tournament.

The Hokies beat Kent State 8-1 in their first game of the day, followed by a 9-0 rain-shortened 8 inning win against the host Seahawks.

Tech (3-0) has won 21 straight non-conference games, the third longest streak in school history.

Former Albemarle High School star and current UNCW senior Tyler Molinaro went 0-2 with a walk against the Hokies.

Virginia Tech and UNC Wilmington will square off again Sunday at Brooks Field.
