A Staunton man faces several gun charges Saturday night after Harrisonburg police say he fired shots in a neighborhood and then tried to toss away the gun.
Police arrested 23-year-old Sean Michael Patty early Saturday morning.
It all started with a call for shots fired in the 800 block of Port Republic Road. Witnesses gave police a description of the suspect's car and they followed it onto Interstate 81.
Police say Patty was a passenger in the car and threw the gun out the window. It hit a pursuing police cruiser.
Patty is charged with reckless handling of a firearm, possession of a stolen firearm, and discharging a firearm inside city limits.
