Posted: Updated:

The Virginia Tech men's basketball team lost an overtime battle to NC State 90-86.

Neither team led by more than 7 points at any point in the match-up - but Virginia Tech's Jarell Eddie provided a spark late in the game that kept the Hokies alive at the end of regulation.

N.C. State led 78-75 in the final seconds of the game until they decided to foul Virginia Tech's Erick Green.

Green went to the foul line and made his first foul shot and purposely missed the second- bouncing it off the right rim. Eddie met the ball at the rim and tipped it in to tie the game at 78 with two seconds on the clock.

Following a missed floater from NC State's Lorenzo Brown - the game went into overtime.

Eddie hit back-to-back 3-pointers to keep the Hokies out in front, but Tyler Lewis had a pair of free throws that gave the Wolfpack an edge in OT.

NC State went 5 for 6 from the free throw line to ice the Wolfpacks 90-86 win.

Marshall Wood had a career day for the Hokies. Wood had his first double-double with 14 points and 16 rebounds.

Green had 29 points and 8 assists while Eddie added 17 points for Virginia Tech.

The Hokies will be back in action Thursday as the face No. 2 Duke at Cassell Coliseum at 9 p.m.
