Bikers Deliver Valentine's Day Treats For Good Causes

Posted: Updated:

Bikers wearing crazy costumes, some red with hearts all over them, will be out and about Thursday spreading a little love.

The Charlottesville Bake 'n Bike Valentine Scone Sale has been going on all week. It's all part of an annual campaign to raise money for two great causes - Books Behind Bars and Community Bikes.

People are sending half a dozen heart-shaped chocolate chip scones and a homemade card, all to be delivered by festive bicyclists.

"It's just to jazz it up and make it a really fun experience for everybody," said Joanie Freeman, one of the bike riders delivering treats.

The other goal is just to spread some love and entertainment on Valentine's Day.

Although the scone sale is now over, the public can enjoy seeing the cyclists all around town Thursday.

Donations are also still being accepted. For more information or to donate, click here.
