Greene Dragons Advance to Bull Run District Finals

The William Monroe High School boys basketball team beat Manassas Park 81-65 Wednesday in the Bull Run District semifinals.

Gary Morris had a game high 35 points for the Green Dragons, while Markell Williams added 27.

Monroe will play Clarke County in the finals Friday.

The Buckingham boys topped Cumberland 55-50 in the James River District semifinals behind 20 points from Tariq Bartee.

The Knights improve to 21-1 on the season, and will host Bluestone in the finals Friday at 7:30.

The Spotswood boys basketball team beat Fort Defiance 81-68 in the Valley District semifinals.

Meghan Comer scored a game-high 11 points as the Monticello girls beat Fluvanna 40-30 in the Jefferson District semifinals at Fluvanna County High School.

The Mustangs will take on Powhatan in the finals Friday, after the Indians knocked off Western Albemarle 53-34.

The Covenant School boys lost 62-44 at North Cross.

The Eagles play at Roanoke Catholic in their regular season finale Saturday, and the VIC Tournament begins February 19th.
