Western Albemarle's Olivia Hajek and St. Anne's Belfield's Blissie DuBose will both play field hockey in college. On Wednesday Hajek signed with William and Mary and DuBose signed with North Carolina.
DuBose helped lead STAB to a state championship the past two years. She says she always wanted to attend North Carolina, where her dad went, and now will play field hockey in the competitive ACC.
DuBose says, "Oh my gosh you don't know how long I've waited for this, ever since I was a little girl I always wanted to go to Chapel Hill and I never even thought it was possible to play field hockey because I love the sport so much and I'm so happy and so thankful for so many people helping me, I'm so happy."
Hajek was a four year starter at Western Albemarle. She was voted the Jefferson District player of the year in 2010, 2011, and 2012. She was also voted All-State in those years. She says William and Mary was a perfect fit for her.
Hajek says, "William and Mary, it was the perfect combination of academics and sports. I really liked the location and the people seemed really nice, I liked the atmosphere, all around it was really great."
