Middle School Students Present Ideas to Central VA Business Owners

Posted: Updated:

Students at Henley Middle School in Crozet presented their ideas to bring new businesses to Albemarle County and beyond for their final exam on Tuesday.

Eighth-graders in the school's entrepreneurship program unveiled their ideas to business owners across the region. The ideas range from a cafe to a casino resort.

Each of the concepts was judged in originality, sustainability and customer relevance.

"These are skills that work within the classroom and within the business community, but also just in life and that's how we really wanted to promote class," said Lauren Boggs Meslar, the entrepreneurship teacher.

The program is the only one in the county at the middle school level. The students will receive high school credit for the course.
